Summer is almost over now, and we have had the late summer cough to prove it (I really don't know anything about a late summer cough theory, it's just that we have been hacking our lungs out all week! Isaac was up almost all night last night in torture!) Here is Ockey taking his neb--he feels like Darth Vadar!
Anyway, Dave had the first week in August off so we did some fun family things, and hit up Heritage Park for the first time in 2 years. It was great. Grandma H came and we met our friends, the Curtis's (is that the proper way of doing that apostrophe?)
Here is the evidence...
The boys are trying to crank the Model T engine-- it's much tougher than it looks!
Ockey and the boys on the train.
On the Ferris wheel. This is the first year for Isaac-- he loved it.
Above are the boys on the WHIP. It's a ride on a rail that flips the car around in a little jerk. All the rides are from the early 20th century.
Next, were the ferry ride and the carousel. Okes really thought he was a cowboy. He felt sooo cool!
We always have to go to the bakery and get sausage rolls. We were lucky enough to get a picture of the guy painting the sign on the window-- I had to take a picture. It was a piece of art...
One more of the Wheel. The boys and their friend, Hayden, went on it for the last ride of the day. It was great fun and we were glad Debbie could come--'it's always fun when Grandma comes' =D
The next day we went back to Chestermere for an afternoon at the lake. Grandma brought out the Pokey-- the little rowboat and we had some fun in that. But it's always stressful at the lake because not everyone loves it like Daddy! it puzzles him to no end why everyone doesn't like the things he likes!
Okes and Dave driving the boat. And below we have the little skippers, navigating and maneuvering The Pokey in the rough waters of Chestermere. They did well, until the waves from other ski boats undulated over to them.
Emory taking it easy under the glove box. It's the baby spot. They always fall asleep under there!
AND NOW, THE MUCH ANTICIPATED AND ULTIMATELY DISAPPOINTING #3 BIRTHDAY!!!
I am going to try really hard to get a video of the birthday surprise that he arranged and orchestrated himself because it's beyond priceless, so please check back for the video after I figure out youtube. But basically he had meltdown after meltdown and was forever scarred by the adults yelling "SURPRISE!!!" to the point of tears. Yep, it was sad. However, the presents cheered him up somewhat, because the song also turned him to tears of fear and over-exposure to pure love!!
These are my attempt at bugs, but the heads kept falling off and the toothpicks wouldn't stick into the heads so well, but just look at the colors!!! (Martha Stewart would be shamed.)
We went to Gull Lake with some friends last week, and got some pics of that and then the last ones are of the Rocky Mountain House Settler days. The boys got to milk a cow and there was a free carnival, a horse show, a pet parade and a car show. It was a nice afternoon. So without further adieu....
Isaac got right in there!!
It can't be a Heninger blog without a car or two...
Check out the flame job!
And the ride home was just too much for some of us...
Isaac has been especially prone to disfigurement this summer, He has scraped his knee twice, burned his ankle on the iron (don't ask) and who knows what he did to the top of his foot! And did I mention that Dave popped Ockey's elbow out of joint last week in a wrestling match???
Happy Summer everyone.
